CONFIGURATIONS
The Australian plug/power outlet system is described in the SAA document AS 3112-2000 and is also used in New Zealand (New Zealand standard NZ SS 198-1967) and Papua New Guinea.
The Australian plugs have flat pins arranged offset and are polarized. The two-pole plugs are for Class II apparatus. The connecting lead has to comply with the special SAA regulations and has to be marked with the test number N/... (e.g. H03VVH2-F 2x0.75 N/...). For spec  ial mechanical stress, a „Heavy Duty“ lead with a reinforced jacket is used.

There are three plug systems, which differentiate from each other as follows:

7.5 A (up to 0.75 mm²)
or 10 A / 250 V (1.0 mm²)
All three contact pins have the same dimensions.

When using a two-conductor lead the earthing pin is provided but not connected.

There is a special design with two pins for 7.5 A (see illustration).

15 A / 250 V (1.5 mm²)
The earthing pin is wider and longer but is not connected for two-conductor leads.

Pins with insulated part.
